Our Foundry Joins The Cast Metals Federation

Published - 16th Sep 2024

We are proud to announce that Northfield Foundry, part of the Rotolok Group, has officially joined the Cast Metals Federation (CMF). Our foundry is ideally positioned to supply UK and European companies with complex, high-quality grey iron castings, including those with intricate cores and repeat batch requirements.

Simon Bates, our Technical Director, shared his enthusiasm: “We are delighted to be a part of the CMF. In recent years, we’ve undergone significant changes, particularly with our investment in new electric melting furnaces. Joining the Federation will allow us to share our experiences and learn from other industry leaders. We take pride in offering complete project management, covering casting, fabrication, machining, non-destructive testing, pressure testing, and specialised painting. This means our customers can place one order for a fully managed project, from conceptual design to a finished part ready for installation.”

Simon also recently attended a regional CMF meeting, where he connected with other foundry owners and senior managers. The meeting provided valuable insights into the challenges and opportunities within the industry, as well as highlighting the CMF’s work to promote UK foundries and the benefits of using secondary metals like scrap steel and iron to produce lower carbon, near-net shape components.

Pam Murrell, CEO of CMF, echoed this sentiment: “We are thrilled to welcome Northfield Foundry to the Federation. The components our industry produces are essential to modern life and support the transition to a lower carbon economy. Metal castings are not only made from secondary metals but are also fully recyclable at the end of their life. We look forward to collaborating with Northfield as we continue to advocate for the importance of UK foundries and the value of metal castings across various supply chains.”
