In the run-up to Christmas, Rotolok successfully completed the manufacture of two of its largest cast rotary valves—impressive 915mm units. These specialised valves are a rarity, designed to handle exceptionally large volumes of product, making them a standout in the rotary valve market.
Adding to their uniqueness, the 915mm valves were manufactured in stainless steel to meet the specific requirements of the customer, who also ordered four 600mm stainless steel valves. The 915mm valves were designed for handling Corn Gluten Meal with a maximum throughput of an extraordinary 580m³/hr, all while fitted with ATEX-certified gearmotors to ensure safe and compliant operation.
The customer’s primary need was for robust, hygienic valves capable of handling large product volumes. The 915mm valve perfectly fits the bill, offering a solution that simplifies systems and reduces costs. Where competitors would require multiple smaller valves, the 915mm valve enables customers to streamline their operations by utilising a single, high-capacity unit. This unique capability mitigates the additional complexity and expense associated with using multiple smaller valves.
The accompanying four 600mm stainless steel valves were specified for ATEX certification and for use as autonomous safety devices (barriers). To meet these critical safety requirements, each valve underwent hydrostatic testing at Rotolok’s Tiverton facility before being shipped. The valves have now been dispatched to the customer in the UK, where they will play a pivotal role in the handling of large-scale bulk materials.
Daniel Potter, one of Rotolok’s newest Sales Engineers, was on hand to oversee the final stages of the project. In photos linked here, Daniel stands beside the impressive 915mm units, offering a sense of scale and demonstrating the sheer size and quality of these industry-leading valves.
This project exemplifies Rotolok’s commitment to providing innovative, customer-focused solutions for the bulk handling industry, ensuring operational efficiency and reliability across a variety of applications!
